    Default Vat

    Hi

I've just paid off my two oustanding invoices and noticed I was charged 17.5% VAT.

Should I not of been charged 15% VAT today? - Not that I mind, as 2.5% is hardly going to make anyone go on a spending spree

it was changed to 15% in the morning, but your invoice was generated last month and that's the reason it shows 17.5%

Yes, VAT applies at 17.5% for anything that is bought or recieved before the 1st December 2008.

Yeah, I just had another company do the same to me - they cancelled one invoice and reissued it with the correct VAT included.

I tell you one thing, the change in VAT is going to make the accountants happy bunnies as it will be a pain to do the books this year.

Nope, but the motto of my High school was "Work hard, play hard" and from that day onwards I have always followed that. And I work bloody hard so I deserve wind down time.

Plus can I help having so many friends and being such a social butterfly? Its a hazard I am saddled with for the rest of my life I think .

Even so, if the businesses pockets the extra 2.5%, it's still going to be good for the economy, as the business will be gaining more money, and so will the businesses suppliers, so at least someone is benefiting along the lines.

Well... But if businesses can therefore absorb their cost increases by the 2.5% extra coming in, it would benefit your economy as they won't have the put their prices up for the customer.

That all depends what you're buying. If you're buying a £2000 bottle of champagne in the Hilton, you'd notice the 2.5%!

£30 off a £1200 Apple iMac, oh my life is saved!

As I've said before, it's to accommodate businesses rather than the public.

Yes but if you can afford to buy that you won't be bothered about the £50 saving - it'll be like us throwing pennies on the ground to them!

    Exactly my point .

Well if I as a non rich person was buying a new computer then I'd actually appreciate the £30 saving. But I begrudge spending £3 on a pint so if I was spending £2000 on champagne I'd be that rich I wouldn't care .
