OMG! Now what!

OMG! I down loaded that joomla thing, it told me to delete the public_hmtl folder in my root directory which I did and now theres nothing there, I can't view any webpages at all! i have uninstalled joomla, how do i reset my root folder to all the stuff that was there before. at least so i can make a index page viewable!

Why does this happen to me! I only wanted to make a login page for my website hosting!

I have restored your public_html and assigned proper permissions.

get some rest and get started with the login page once again tomorrow morning. Please do not delete public_html again.

You can install Joomla in a subdirectory first and make everything work from it. You can then move the data in public_html once you make a website hosting as per your requirements.

so will I be able to make my website hosting front page appear from my domain name, Meaning 'somethingsoemthing.co.uk'. I was having trouble making the front page corrispond to this, Before I reinstall in, is it possible for me to set joomla up so everyone that types in my domain name gets to my front page right away? Its only because whenever i try to install to a subfolder it tells me the access url will be "somethingsomthing.co.uk/folder" which is no good for people trying to find me. Also when i try to upload into the main bit, it says i can't becasue a copy of joomla is already there, and please manually remove it, which it isn't because i already tried deleting everything before remember and ended up breaking it

Thats right. You can simply install Joomla in a subdomain now as that will allow you to setup your website hosting as per your requirements and then you can move the files and folders down into the public_html directory.

If you don't have any other contents in public_html right now then install joomla directly inside public_html. Most of the times joomla uninstallation will delete other data from public_html so proceed with your own risk.

So I have a similar problem to what is described above. So, i thought I shifted the index.php file out of public_html but it vanished rather than moving to where I aimed it, but it still comes up when i type mydomain.com in and even with the correct /index.htm my indexpage that I have put in its place is coming up error 404, page not found. I had a considerably more tech able friend have a look and he thinks i might need to reset the root directory. any suggestions?

Just create a .htaccess file in the domain's Root Directory (DocumentRoot) and add the following code in the same file. It will force apache to show index.htm page as a Home page on the same domain.
