My impression is that the Google Chrome operating system will be totally browser based and making use of cloud computing. In other words you log onto your storage space and work with the data you have there through the browser. Then any games you want to play are accessed online via the browser. Its totally browser based and all data is stored in the cloud. You might download something via the browser to store it on your local drives but if you then process it locally its also via the browser. The whole emphasis though is the shift to web based computing as opposed to desk top computing

Indeed, this sounds a bit interesting.. browser based OS and cloud computing... it is difficult to imagine where we all will end..!!

well right now the GUI is focused on the desk top. In the Google Chrome OS it will be focused on the web via the browser though obv you can change the address in the browser to access local resources. But any software would also be browser based much as you can now have applications saved as favourites in the Chrome browser. I would imagine that will open up new licensing scenarios as well as increase the use of web based open source software.

I'm actually really interested in this. I've loved Google Chrome as a browser so far, so this should be good too.

Google chrome has completely changed now. I have switched to Google chrome from Mozilla Firefox.

I am not sure what's wrong with FF, but my FF fails to show eUKhost website. other subdomains hosted on same server have no problem at all.

Was that Firefox version 3.5? The earlier ones, namely 2.0 & 3.0 were quite good, but 3.5 is a bit sluggish + lacks few features. I'm planning to switch over to Google Chrome soon

I would use Chrome but I'm an FF fanboy

However, Chrome does seem to be gaining popularity - only problem with it is that some larger sites (i.e. online banking sites) won't let you use it as it is seen as 'unrecognized'.

If you look at Google products, starting from Gmail to Chrome, all of their products have been admired by users. So, we would expect Google to do the same with Chrome OS too. I just hope that google operating system serves as a wake-up call to Microsoft, so they stop releasing over-priced operating systems that come in so many editions that it is impossible to choose one over the other.

    You are right Gracy

Microsoft comes with update of operating systems and their other products every 2-3 years. Google has certainly given wakeup call to Microsoft and I'm sure there would be lot to come from Microsoft as well.

I'm not too interested in a complete OS that's nearly completely Internet/browser based...I mean, I do use Windows Live Messenger for example as well as a programming editor - although its possible to have this online, would Google make such an 'online application' for their Chrome OS? I'll be interested to try Chrome OS - I guess no one knows how consumers will react to Chrome OS on netbooks until you try it in a trial...it'll certainly make netbooks cheaper, that's for sure.

Hmmm. Bing has arrived but on a Beta platform type....People need more search engine choice, change, a rival, I guess. Bing have chosen not to clone/copy Google’s UI - I like Bing's look though.

My site up for two weeks hasnt been index yet.
I also found Bing brings up irrelevant results for the best part from what I have been searching.
I will keep Ask as my main and Google as my backup for a while at least.

I don't even have a 4Mbps connection...I get speeds averagely around 1.5Mbps. Netbook manufacturers are sure looking for an alternative to the limited Windows platform due to the huge system requirements of Windows Vista and the upcoming Windows 7...I don't think Microsoft will let manufacturers use Windows XP too much longer so it'd be interesting which netbook manufacturers be keen to use Chrome OS in some new netbooks; possibly through a trial.

G Chrome is superior to IE no matter how much they would try to improve it. IE was born crippled I believe.
