    Default Green Hosting

    We have encountered drastic changes in our environment due to the global warming, Green Hosting is a concept that initializes a step towards helping our planet and make best out of available resources.

    * What is Green Hosting?
    Hosting companies proving themselves with excellent green credentials as a part of environment and operates without damaging our planet. Now that we have started thinking about saving our Planet we will see more companies being promoted on large scale, one will always think of having a server that is operational 24x7 by energy produced through wind mill or solar energy.

    Nice idea - but..... maybe we should tackle some other issues first. Like the USAs ridiculous output of greenhouse gases - that would actually make a real difference!

    And I'm yet to see any "warming" in the global warming haha. I think thats why they've renamed it "climate change"!

    Green hosting is definitely picking up in a big way, at least in the U.S. (of all places, go figure). A lot of larger colocation/dedicated hosting providers are starting to get into the trend, since it not only is a great Page Ranking decision, but saves one heck of a lot of money too. GNAX, for one, recently published an article on what they've been doing to cut back on energy costs: http://www.gnax.net/pdf/GNAX_Green_Initiatives.pdf

    Nearly 4% of the total energy consumed all over the world is used by datacenters functionality.Green Web Hosting or Eco-friendly web hosting is the most recent addition to the sector of web hosting. The most popular way the hosting companies prove their credentials is Carbon Offsetting. Others apart from this type are planting trees and trying hard for energy conservation by the use of energy saving appliances. All keeping a vision of to reduce data center emissions and help preserve the planet.
    We can hope to see Green Hosting in near future.
