    Default Internet in 2020

Scientist are envisaging how the Internet might work without some of the most essential component and system of today's ISP and enterprise networks.
Their goal is to create an Internet without so many security breaches, with better trust and built-in identity management. Researchers are trying to build an Internet that's more reliable, higher performing and better able to manage exabytes of content.

    Re-thinking everything from scratch.

Well, It appear that new internet will give less personal freedom and would be less free, and more controlled. May be they've overestimated the future of internet, isn't that?

The eschatological belief of 2012 or Doomsday is nuts, I don't believe it & neither my colleagues. A mere ending of the Mayan calendar won't be alone responsible for whatever happens in the next 3 years... I enjoyed the movie (2012) though..

Although I agree with you all, We the people have already troubled Nature by all possible means, now I guess the nature has started to take revenge. We all knew that this is the coldest winter, we can take this as a sign towards 2012.

I would say especially for this 'you should expect the unexpected but do not believe everything you hear'.

Agreed with Rock here. On both counts - I loved the film but thats all it is - a film, and a fictional one as I'm sure we'll see .

I read an interesting article the other day about new job titles in 2020 for new IT jobs - most seemed to be VR and AI based .

It will be interesting to see what the internet will be like in another ten years.

It's good to hear that the boffins involved there are rethinking things from scratch. There are many shortcomming with the current internet that are only going to get worse if they are not fixed, particularly with increasing amounts of data being transferred..

I read the bible once, not sure why cause i'm not really religious but if I remember correctly it said something about the devil having rein over earth for the next 6ooo years. Something to do with a bet with God that the devil could run things better than him so God told him, "OK, Go on then, prove to me you can do things better."

    Or something like that...

So the moral of it is, until Mr Satan is finished ruling (6000 years) there aint going to be an end to anything. SO I anxiously wait to see in 2020 if we all have WiFi chips in our heads and can access the net without computers! hehehe I can picture it now... GPS build in to taxi drivers brains so they don't get lost..

Well with all the investment in new cabling all over the country... and the world, I cant see things changing too much unless it is still based on using fiber optics to send signals because the money that is spent on cables and cable laying would have been a waist and telecommunications companies like BT (UK) or Eircom (IE) would not allow the internet to be processed in any other way because their would be too much to loose.

I think the internet will not change too much in the next 20 years.

Referring to the link, there will be extended connectivity to the most remote regions of the world, perhaps to other planets! I guess the Government will have more control on internet by that time and "Virtual servers" will get around that fact because many people will be living and working within "virtual worlds, machines will talk-to-machines and people will more often talk about traveling to other planets..

Despite of the huge development in the Internet industry, you'll still find many regions of the World where Internet is not available Before we try and find new ways of getting Internet, it would be better to find out ways through which Internet can be made available in these regions which would help in the development of these regions which will finally result into the development of the World

The Internets getting worse, in the UK at least, now that the government has got its claws into it!

I mean, Digital Economy Bill? Was there any need!?!?!

If the Government carries on like this then we won't be able to access half the Internet by 2020

I do not think Internet would be any different in 2020 than what is today, I can only assume it to be more wireless and WiFi all over.. The security would not change since we all know about the internet devils.. internet is an electronic and global world.. all governments in the world would have to come on one stand to make any difference... It would be rather more compact, less cables, high speed, etc... what else do you think will change
