Google Adwords - £75 free
Just wondering if anyone else has recieved the 75 pounds free advertising offer from Google? I got mine in the post the other day.
You've got to pay a one off 5 pounds activation but it seems worth it for 75 pounds free advertising!
(PS. sorry but this computers pound sign isn't working properly - hence me saying "pounds" a lot
- it only worked for the first one in the title!).

I get sent these all the time, and throw them straight in the bin. Google Adwords is the most ineffective way you could possibly advertise.

Maybe so. But £75 for free? (well for a fiver!). A site I was involved with in the past used Adwords and saw a significant boost in members and visitors. As the site was a free online simulation style game it unfortunately wasn't producing enough revenue to justify the Adwords - but then when they stopped the numbers plummeted again to it now being a deserted site.
I guess you keep getting sent them as they're only sent to people who haven't previously spent money on Adwords
.

welshtom we are looking for ways to advertise the new services on this website >>> Cheap International calls from mobile - T-Mobile Three Orange - we had been thinking of google adwords as an option, what would you recommend as an alternative or a good place to advertise this site?

Of course there are others, but I don't think Adwords is all that bad. As I said, my friend who owned another site saw considerable increases in traffic and registrations.

Adsense is good, had my £75 and I make a resonable amount of money from Adsense on my sites, it pays for all site bills for site and 40 odd domains, so it works for me.

Like with all advertising options, it all depends on how well you know the tool. Adwords with proper keyword research, negative keywords, an attractive ad, a good quality landing page and the right offer can give excellent ROI. Also, with correct location targetting, campaign activity aligned to visitor activity, the costs can be better managed as well.
