Blogging for money
Any of you use blogging as an extra income?
For example being paid to guest post on other blogs or to write comments, or have adverts or sponsors on your site?

I've seen numerous ads about blogging for profit, but have yet to meet anyone who has found any success in this. It takes alot of work, and you need to have some level of established credibility in your niche in the first place before you get started.

My husband and I were actually talking about this avenue today. We are trying to figure out exactly what we want to do with our web page when we get it set up. I guess I will hold off a little until I do some more research.

Hi,
For blogging for profit you need to create a long term plan, you have to decide what topics you are going to write your blog posts on, what tags you are going to use, how many post you will write for a particular topic, how will you effectively monetize your blog, how often will you post, what will your layout be? to earn passive income streams through your blog.Last edited by Joseph; 24-08-2009 at 04:21. If you wish to earn money through your blogs, you have to make sure that the content of your blogs is excellent as the content of your blogs will determine the amount of money you will earn from your blogs.
Also, it is important to update the content of your blogs consistently so that readers will find new content whenever they visit your blogs.

Question: Have any of YOU ever earned a blogger one cent?
For instance, I regularly read 'review' blogs when I am researching products before purchase, but I have never:
· bought anything directly from a blog site
· clicked through an affiliate link and bought something that way
· never clicked on an advert
· never signed up to a blog (and if I did I'd use a disposable email address)
I find blogs very useful in this context, but apart from STATISTICALLY increasing their amount of traffic by one hit, I fail to see how anyone has made any money whatsoever from my visits over the last ten years.
This is the main reason why I'm very reluctant to try affiliate selling - if I, as an average user, haven't made anyone money in the last ten years, then why should I expect people reading my blog/website to use the click-throughs, when I DON'T?
The other reason I am reluctant is that the dropshippers/wholesalers that you are forced to use are 'middle-men' businesses themselves, and so you cannot compete with retail outlets who can buy in bulk direct from the manufacturers and real wholesalers.
I'd love to be told I'm wrong, but that's what I've turned up in my research so far.

Blogging will help you to get good amount of visitors to your website which will help you to earn more money from your website.
You can use your blogs to express the kind of knowledge you have about the products and services you have and if the content of your blogs is good and relevant, visitors of your blog will come to your website which will affect the amount of traffic on your website which will affect the number of sales

@Anti- There are millions of web users who love to trade/buy/sale online.
Don't take it harsh.. but there are webmasters who love to click on ads / links which are of their interest
I have read at many places that people earn their daily bread through their blogs, hence blogging is like a lifesaver for them....

Yes, review and blog sites helped me find and evaluate EUKHOST for my 'shortlist'. But my point is, on those sites I never clicked an advert or affilate link to the eukhost sign up page. And even if I had clicked-through, I would have bookmarked the eukhost MAIN page to come back to later (without the affiliate part of the hyperlink), not simply clicked-through and bought hosting on the strength of a particular blog or review.
> visitors of your blog will come to your website which will affect the amount of traffic
> on your website which will affect the number of sales
I've bought books and software based on reviews and blogs. And again, I've never bought something straight from a click-through on a site. My RESEARCH cycle is kept completely separate from my BUYING cycle. Once I've shortlisted the services or products that I'm interested in, finding the cheapest price and/or acceptable shipping conditions is a completely different process.
I fail to see how RESEARCHING products on blogs and review sites makes them any money whatsoever without actually using a click-though. I also don't understand how it can make much money anyway, because from what I've read there is an extremely low profit margin and/or commission.
Further, I don't know anyone personally who likes adverts in websites (and I don't think I'm strange in this regard). The people I know are generally sick of them. They are intrusive and confusing, and ruin the browsing experience. Most people probably only click on some adverts by mistake because they don't recognise them as such (as they are cleverly disguised much of the time).
If anyone has an example blog/website they can link to, and can divulge the breakdown of income from it, it would be most appreciated. Because I'm always hearing 'they' (the bloggers) can make money. I've never actually heard someone say in person 'I make a living from website advertising and affiliate selling'. The people who claim to make money are exactly the same people who are trying to sell you a 'secret of my success' pdf!Last edited by -Anti-; 07-09-2009 at 17:07.

A lot of people don't really visit many actual blogs, I think it can be easier to get traffic to a regular content site.

People do visit blog if the content of the blog is good. If you are searching for some information in a search engine and if the information is given on a blog, it might get good rankings in search engines and you will visit the blog to get the information. If the content of the blog is relevant, you may want to find out the author's main website and you will land up on it if the main website is linked to blogs.
Hence, it is important that you link your main website to the blogs so that you can get some visitors on your website through the blogs you create

If you want to start blogging for money there are a few things you need to judge. To make money blogging you must have a plan and put that plan into action. Of course, there will be some trial and error; however, this is how you learn what works.

Blogging is best to show your knowledge about the field of your expertise and by showing your expertise or the field of your study it can help you to monetize your blog effectively.

What is blog? !
Blogging seems to be the ideal solution for many things, one of which being SEO. Blog is important for SEO as basic and very practical SEO tips tell us that we should avoid bad and defective coding, use relevant keywords, be conscious of where we place them in text, and get inbound links. Let’s consider coding. Both WordPress and Blogger maintain excellent coding standards. Each platform comes with a standard (approved) template that meets the W3C standards. Actually, Blogger comes with around 25 and WordPress only has one.
I advice, if your website is YOURBUSINESS.COM, don’t make your blog YOURBUSINESS.COM/BLOG or BLOG.YOURBUSINESS.COM. Instead, make your blog something like YOURBUSINESSBLOG.com. Additionally, your blog and website should be different IP addresses, in fact, maybe hosted by different companies.
The purpose of doing this is to have the ability to point links back to your website and have SEARCH ENGINES CREDIT these links as true external inbound links. A blog is a great thing to have if you’re focused on SEO. A blog can be used to help a main website rank better in search engines simply due to increasing inbound links.Best Regards,
Bryan Oscar
