Just for getting traffic for your website hosting, ever woundered about submitting some useful video at Google-video, Yahoo-video or at YouTube.
Will it work ?

Hii Harry it depends on what kind of exposure a particular business wants and after that you can decide whether to make a video of that. Also it has to be interesting and appealing so that visitors feel like watching it. But yea the concept can pull some amount of traffic though I have not seen any video till now which is promoting its business.

I think it would be a excellent way to attract visitors.
suppose i am into hotel industry and i have long list of nice clips from all over the world. I just post them onto videosites hoping targeted traffic.

Lol, if uploading videos would have generated reasonable traffic then any video website hosting promoting such videos would have flooded with all such videos. Well IMO it is not at all a good concept to do so. I think the main reason for this is that majority of people look for entertainment when visiting a website hosting like YouTube.Who will even bother about seeing an add campaign if there are other quite outstanding videos right from the funniest video to the most glamorous one with a loads of variety available online.
Honestly I think there is very little benefit with such kind of strategy. Anyways if you are planning to upload one ATB.

If you are planning to get traffic to your website hosting through this method, make sure the video is interesting and really catchy for people to share on a mass scale. As a website hosting owner think about your niche and what you could offer them. A step-by-step guide on some installation or show how to operate something or even a video blog might help.

Dear Dave, not all video lovers just want entertainment when they view some video clip.
There are people who search for some manufacturing process, critical operations, sitemaps etc…
You know human beings can remember 70 % more what they see rather than what they read or hear.
Visual impact is much more effective than any other.

Yes I totally understand what you are trying to explain. I guess you are trying too hard to mix two different concepts together. But there is no such category available on YouTube, Google or Yahoo! for promotional videos.If there is one available please keep me posted or send a PM. Cheers!

Well my friend that article is dated August 22, 2006.
Almost four months have passed and we haven't heard any update on pre-roll video ads from YouTube. The title of the article itself says that YouTube is avoiding video ads at present as they want to make it a unique thing for all its users. After Google acquisition of YouTube I guess there will be lot of delay on this issue and Google might ask YouTube to rethink over all its future plans from Google's view point.

In fact, website hosting like Youtube are good source for getting traffic. Instead of submitting video you can start a campaign and by making it viral so that you can divert a good amount of traffiic originated from it to your desired destination. What do you think?

There are lot, in fact you will get to see them on that website hosting itself. It's quite difficult to differentiate though.
