Default my page rank of 4 is gone?

Hi, I bought a domain with page rank of 4.

Checked it on multiple sites and guy who sold it confirmed, was a good domain name.

Anyway, I transferred it to a new registrar under my name. There was no index page on the site (im still waiting for my site to be made). so the domain was down for that time.

I just checked the page rank of it yesterday and today and it cant be found or is 0.

I type the domain into google and it doesnt come up, but does on other search engines.

Any idea what happened? This happened over the period of 6 days.

I quickly made an index page and put some meta tags in it yesterday but doubt it made a difference.

Don't want to post the domain name here but pm me if you think you can help, cheers.

There might be many factors for such a change shown by Google. Maybe you can wait for a day or two and again check it. Now, the exact reason is had to find out until the domain is known. Kindly PM me the domain name, I'll try to check the problem.
In the meantime you should check with your web hosting provider for the IP of the server, such changes might also happen if your website is hosted on a server whose IP is banned/black listed by Google.

There might be possibility that either the page rank of the domain was forged one or you've bought a expired domain name or Google might have dropped the Page Rank due to paid links.

This is just crazy. I guess where money is there will always be some forging and cheating. You have to be very careful and buy domains and already established sites only after thorough examination from someone who knows the business.

It is just the possibility that Paul has stated. But yes, as stated by Frenchy one must carry out a thorough investigation before purchasing an existing domain.

Frenchy, we would be thankful if you could let us know, whom to contact for investigation, if we are to purchase a pre-existing domain.

The people I work with and learn from are not willing to share their advice, not even for money. But you can instead ask some SEO expert to examine the site on Google. He would give you all the answers you need. But don't search for someone over the Internet because there are a lot of people pretending to now but they are just beginners.

Yes but still you've to believe someone, in my opinion forums are best place for seeking help, there are lot of people who are willing to help others.

Yes, forums are the best mean to turn to if you can't deal with the problem yourself. But keep in mind to listen to at least some mod or admin on the forum because a lot of people offer advice that they didn't even try by themselves.

It might be a case of using black hat techniques to get your PR4, because google doesn't like it.

All the scams aside, isn't page optimisation for search engines an ongoing effort? Your rank can go up and down... this depends on the changes you make to your website as well as what happens with the websites in the same niche as yours, or am I missing something?

yes it is ongoing, but the original issue was with the domain rank. The scammer normally does this via redirects, but as a consequence the redirects cause drops in the serps (google will always temporarily drop a site or page during a redirect) which explains why the site is now gone from the index.

But yes, ongoing work is required to place sites in prominent positions and keep them there.
