Default What is KEI (KEYWORD EFFECTIVENESS INDEX)

I've never found a suitable source of accurate KEI data. How does it help in making betting optimization?

It can be found from Google Adwords keyword tool. You can perform research on a keyword from this tool and find out the competitors and search results and then optimize your website accordingly.

KEI or KEYWORD EFFECTIVENESS INDEX is basically a measure as to how a keyword is for your website. It's based on the following :

    - KEI for a keyword should increase with popularity.
    - KEI for a keyword should decrease if it has more competition.
    - If keywords are competitive and popular, the ratio between the two should remain the same.

Please be advised that KEI must satisfy all three of the above points.

Keyword effectiveness index (KEI) relies on the assumption that the best keywords are those that have a lot of searches but not much competition.

One of the reasons that it may not work for everyone is because it takes no account of the quality of the competition.

IMO, you should optimize a website for most commonly used keywords or phrases in its respective and you should also use some of high KEI phrases. Once you do both the things might end up getting the most of SEO work.

I think KEI compares the count results with the number of competing web pages to locate the keywords that are most valuable for the campaign.

You should try and find out keywords with higher KEI related to your website's niche and optimize your website for those keywords as if the KEI of those keywords is high, it means that those keywords are popular but still have less competition which makes it easier for you to get higher rankings in search engines for those keywords

Other than Google adwords, there are only 2 more keyword suggestion tool that gives you a complete idea about the best keywords. Wordtracker which is now a paid version and Overture keyword suggestion tool by Yahoo.

I've used wordtracker trial version and noticed that it produces results mostly from Yahoo & altavista.

Considering Google adwords, i do not think it provides appropriate information. Even if you check Google Adwords stats and compare with other tools. You'll definitely notice the difference...

I was to use keyword elite for doing this but the results were never accurate so I am doing it manually. Normally the higher the KEI value, the better chances to rank on top position.

One of the main disadvantage of a KEI is that it relies on the accuracy of Google Stats.

While using KEI formula you need to create the list of some targeted keywords that are having many searches and that are usually used by web surfers in their search queries.

Just making some good use of your common sense can a good idea. If the KEI for a targeted keyword is high, then don’t use that keyword if the top ranked competitors are good players of your field.

There are many Keyword research tools available in the market from which some are as follows:-

    1) Overture Free Keyword Research Tool
    2) WordTracker
    3) Keyword Discovery from Trellian
    4) Google’s Adwords Program Tools

You can use any one of the above, it is sufficient for obtaining average projections on traffic.
