Which hosting to go for
Hi!
My name is Bikram. and i am newbie in hosting and not the brightest kind. I have a question regarding hosting and for that i am stating my requirements below.
I want to host 4 wordpress blogs
1 OS commerce or zencart website that might have 100 to 200 products. For payments i will sue any bank's payment gateway.
1 general website
i might host one forum as well.
all these services except my personal blog (biksy.com) will be new. My existing blog get around 100-200 visitors a day.
I am not sure, how much visitor to expect initially.
Please suggest me what type of hosting i should go for, shared, VPS or any other?
I read somewhere that if you get 5000 uniques then you should have X amount of bandwidth, can you please explain how to find out how much bandwidth will be required if i expect say 100 visitors.
And what does unique stands for, does repeat users doesn't count in this.
I am very confused and though to ask this question here, so that I can get expert's opinion on this.
Also suggest if anything more i need to look at before finalizing the hosting?
Thanks
Bikram

Hi there,
Judging by the amount of sites which you want to host I would advise you to go with either a high end shared web hosting package or a low end VPS server. The amount of bandwidth you use isn't just dependent on the number of visitors you receive - you need to take into consideration the size of your files.
All web hosting packages come with a 30 day money back guarantee meaning that if you feel that a certain web hosting package isn't for you, you can get your money back and then upgrade your web hosting service.

Hello Bikram,
As suggested by Josh, you can start off with a high-end shared hosting plan like Gold plan or Platinum plan or low end VPS - L-VPS-01 depending upon your preferences. On shared hosting, you can host multiple websites using Addon Domains function while on a VPS, all your websites can be hosted individually with individual control panel access to manage each of them separately.

Unique visitors are a count of individual users who have accessed your web site. For example, if a user leaves and comes back to the site five times during the measurement period, that person is counted as one unique visitor, but would count as five user sessions.Cloud Hosting - Pay-As-You-Go Hosting with eNlight Cloud

Hello Bikram,
I hope you must have satisfied with the replies given by Josh and Ryan
I would like to know if you have taken any decision regarding choosing webhosting service provider.

Hi,
In addition to the suggestions from Ryan and Josh, you would also need to purchase an SSL certificate as the web site would involve online payment system. This would ensure payment security. Install the certificate onto the web hosting plan.
You can start with a shared hosting and later if you feel can upgrade to a VPS or a dedicated server. But if you are sure that your site would grow in terms of traffic and the shared server resources would start falling short. then I would stress on choosing a VPS plan, this would avoid any downtime when upgrading to a VPS from a shared plan. Upgrading from one VPS plan to the other is simple than from shared to VPS.
Remember every minute is precious in an online business.
Regards,
Matt

Shared SSL Certificates are installed on EUK servers. If you need a private SSL Certificate, EUK has several plans for private SSL Certificates. You can view all the plans here.
Have you made any decision about the hosting provider?
