5* with regards to cPanel. I unfortunately cannot comment on Plesk as I have never had the pleasure of using it.

However cPanel, in my opinion is excellent and I've been using it along with WHM for 3 years now.

The main advantage I can see with cPanel is that it runs on Linux so you can avoid Microsoft .

But seriously, cPanel is a good all round system I've found .

I am using Plesk from couple of last years and with different hosting companies. I am happy to say that plesk interface works very well, but the only thing is how well the hosting company know this interface technically. If you are with a good hosting company like EUK Host, then operating a website on Plesk is like driving a Rolls-Royce.

    Thumbs up

cPanel/WHM control panel is certainly the best control panel for Linux. It has a very simple interface and is quite stable on Linux hosting platform which makes it even better. When it comes to features, it consists of all the features a control panel should include

Both of them are good for me but cPanel can be found as pretty easier solution for the newbie’s.

The reason that makes cPanel the most popular control panel is its fully functional graphical interface that makes easy for the clients to manage their websites. cPanel provides you a complete security and protects your data against viruses and malicious programs which may corrupt your data.

    @Mr.Chapman
Even Plesk have a very good GUI but the features which are offered by cPanel are just overwhelming as compare to Plesk, sometime you just have to wait much longer for getting your task executed by Plesk.

I've always been curious to try Plesk to see the differences.

But if cPanel is better according to most people.....

When Plesk was initially introduced, not much support was provided. However, with time things have improved with Plesk. Yet, if you have windows, do try DotNet panel.

cPanel is more user friendly, specially when you are new to web hosting. The interface is pretty easy to understand, whereas you pretty much need to keep the manual open in the beginning while using Plesk, and when you need to check documentation, lots of people find cPanel is better written and easier to understand.

Plesk and cPanel both have their advantages and disadvantages. Though cPanel may be easier for new server admins to use, Plesk is much more powerful, allowing advanced users to have many more options and higher functionality. Plesk is also cross-platform software, which is useful because sometimes people actually want to use Windows (as unlikely as that may seem).

Here are a couple of 3rd-party comparisons between cPanel and Plesk. Hopefully they'll help you make a decision.

I have used plesk once and its no where close to cpanel . Cpanel's interface is the best and gives most needed question. of course who can forget the preloaded scripts which only take a click to be installed.

I'm afraid Plesk comes only superior to cPanel in the default look / skin. Otherwise you'd be a lot better getting the jobs done by cPanel.

Well, if you are looking forward to a control panel for Linux, cPanel is what I would recommend, however, if you are choosing a control panel for Windows, Plesk or Dotnetpanel is the best option. Dotnetpanel has gained a lot of popularity due to it's stability and the features it offers and hence one can also choose Dotnetpanel with Windows

cPanel/WHM is a product of cPanel.net. They recommend thier product to be more stable and compatible on Linux Platforms. cPanel.net have been working to develop a control panel for Windows Server. The software is named as " Enkompass " and will carry the cPanel logo. This software has a minimum requirements. You may view the complete information for this product from the below link :

    Windows Control Panel by cPanel.net.

You may also try this Control Panel for Windows Hosting.

There are few goods about both the control panel such as cPanel is the most popular web hosting control panel as it prefered choice by most of the hosting as well as the webmasters. It is much easier to learn and operate. Whereas, Plesk is compatible with both Windows and Unix based operating sytems. The real advantage of the plesk control panel to the users is that they can implement plesk on both windows and unix hosting plans. The plesk also provides you a built-in site builder software, that you won't get in any other control panel.

Suppose, if you wish to opt for a different control panel, besides plesk and cpanel, they you might want to check out DirectAdmin and Hsphere.

Default Different Control Panels for Web Hosting !

    Hi Pete

Control Panels are designed and developed by professional administrators working for many years, every company put-forths lot of time and energy to make a software and the software goes under many testing . Every user only checks if there's the option available they require in the control panel, so each one has there own views and feedback's about the software.

Each software has its own specialty. I think, it is not the matter what a software you use on a server, however, it is a matter how you use the software as many software's supports the basic applications. If your website is designed with particular applications, then, you get less options to choose.

Wow - thanks for sharing this link Bryan - the only reason I have never used windows hosting is the lack of cPanel - I love it! But with this now I can use windows if need be
