    Default Windows vs Linux hosting

Which one do you prefer, windows or linux hosting? Which one is more secure? Which one is more stable? What is the difference between the two? Which one is easier to use? If you were to choose between the two which one of them would you choose?

Can some please tell me as much as you can about the two because I don't know much about hosting especially, linux hosting.

The difference between the hosting is simply which operating system they run on. It's like running a Windows computer and a Mac. You can do the same things on them e.g. Word Processing but the computers work in slightly different ways.

Personally I would choose linux hosting unless I had some specific need for Windows e.g. MSsql. And with eUKhost, both come with a graphical interface making them both pretty easy to use. Personally I like Linux as it seems more stable and less prone to issues but they both have their strong points.

Linux is the winner in web hosting - hands down on everything! More stable, less problems, more secure, faster, more reliable and ultimately makes your web site hosting run better. In my opinion!

Also Linux apparently performs faster<o> </o>and it is in open source, however it depends on your need if you're going for .ASP, .NET, MS SQL Server or MS Access based applications obviously you'll choose window hosting.

Well yes, but hopefully you can find alternatives to them which are available. Having said all this I have never tried a Windows hosting account. It would be interesting to play around with Plesk and a Windows account just to see what it is like - however I highly doubt it will change my opinions on which is the best .

I must say, I'm quite partial to Windows Server 2008. I'm not saying I'm going to migrate to it just for everything but it actually seems to be a pretty damn good contender to run against Linux Hosting.

    Hello Friends..........

Linux based hosting is the most prominent form of hosting on the Internet. This is because many of the technologies that run on Linux hosting, as well as the operating system itself, are all open source. Linux based hosting has a very low cost because of these factors. In addition, Linux web hosting scales extremely well, so as your site grows it remains easy to manage. The only downside to Linux hosting is the lack of support for most Windows based applications and coding languages. This is where Windows hosting comes into play.

Windows hosting is based on the Windows operating system. It is known for support of various programming frameworks, including ASP.net and ColdFusion. Windows hosting can also support SQL server, which can be used to build a site around an online searchable database. Windows based hosting or servers are ideal for those who need easy compatability of Microsoft based technologies. The cost of Windows web hosting is generally higher than Linux based hosting due to licensing of various Windows enviroment technologies. There are few open source solutions for Windows hosting.

    Thanks

I recommend use Linux, unless you need specific features/applications only available on the Windows platform but one of the most important advantage of window is its Intergrates better with other Microsoft applications as compared to Linux.
