Registrant details on WHOIS:Need my private details removed : How to do?

I registered a handful of domain names yesterday.

Some of which come up with the registrant details in WHOIS as "EUKHost".

However, a couple come up with my own details, address, email etc.

For confidential reasons on these domains I registered, I need my private details replaced and the registrant info to show the EUK Host details.

I have other domain names previously registered that show my own details but for a few domains in particular I really need them not to show my own info.

I had a look through the billing section in my control panel and tried to change them but I would appreciate any advice on how to do so.

Until this is achieved, I cannot go ahead with a project I have ongoing just now which needs setting up ASAP, so any info appreciated.

I suggest you to go for a domain ID Protect service.It will give you the highest level of protection against spammers and identity theft.

What is the difference between putting your info on my domains and the domain protect service?.

Does the additional £9 per year cover all domains I register?. I would rather go down the road of the domain protect service to be honest, sounds more secure.

You will just need to provide your domain names in the ticket for which you wish to setup the domain ID protect service. Domain ID protect service makes the contact information related with your domain name private. The fees is £9 per year per domain name.

It usually takes about 48 hours for the changes to show up in Whois.

Hopefully as they are fairly recent registrations there should be no archived data on other website hostings showing your true details - but it is a thing to look out for. The amount of directories that have started compiling information using whois is scary!

Sometimes though, especially when dealing with selling products or services or dealing with customers or users in other ways it is seen as a sign that the person / people you are dealing with are not necessarily trustworthy and do not want to be held accountable for their actions.

It will take a little more than your name and address to commit identity fraud - otherwise every postal employee in the country would be doing it!!!

You should be more worried about financial documents you throw in your bin or things in the real world with your address on!! You should be worried where you using your card, passport, driving license etc.

Never do that if you are running a genuine Business. First thing that I do before purchasing some online product is whois lookup of that website hosting and if they have things hidden then I will never consider that provider.

Many people do whois lookup and they directly call number displayed in whois info rather than the one thats there on the website hosting. You should put your direct number in whois info as the calls that would come through whois search will be from Intelligent people and its always good to talk to Intelligent people

You never know what deals you might have lost due to display of wrong contact number in domain whois. one should always keep all doors open as opportunity may get in from any direction, yeah, but you should be brave enough to tackle Dogs and Rats that may get in from other doors.

What Mark has said about intelligent people and whois is correct - you've probably got a missed call from Mark on your old mobile now flesso!

ID Protect for a business is a definite no-no but even for most individuals it is not necessary!
