Thumbs up How to upgrade custom PHP 5 for Parallels Plesk Panel 8.x, 9.x

In order to upgrade PHP 5 to the needed version (if you would like to have other than shipped with Parallels Plesk) please perform the following steps:

    Applies to:

    • Plesk 8.x for Windows
    • Plesk 9.x for Windows

    1. Stop Plesk services (‘Control Panel’ and all that are included in the ‘Plesk Run-Time’ section)
    2. Rename folder %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5 to the orig_PleskPHP5
    3. Create a new folder %plesk_dir%\Additional\PleskPHP5
    4. Download needed version of PHP, unzi! p its content, and copy it to the newly created folder PleskPHP5
    5. Copy the file php.ini from old folder orig_PleskPHP5 to the new one
    6. Make sure the permissions are inherited
    7. Start Plesk services
    8. Click "Refresh" button in Components Management section in Parallels Plesk Panel and check if you can see the new PHP version there

You need to be aware that PHP versions other than shipped with Parallels Plesk Panel were not tested.

Do you know where I can download a Linux version of PHP? Php.net does not supply a linux version. They say to check your distribution download site, but I can't find anything on Parallels Plesk.

The Linux version of PHP is available for download on this link [first 2 links PHP 5.3.0 (tar.bz2) & PHP 5.3.0 (tar.gz)] : PHP: Downloads

Note: This tut is for upgrading PHP on a Windows server only. Which OS [Linux, Windows, Solaris, etc] do you use & if Linux, which flavour [CentOS, Debian, Fedora]?

Thanks for your help. We've decided to get Network Solutions to help since it's their server.
