Webspace on VPS
Hi, as a newbie to VPS hosting this may seem like a really stupid question!
I am looking at the VPS packages - eukhost.com/vps-hosting.php
so where it states that the webspace would be either 15GB, 30GB or 45GB depending on the package, does this mean that after the insall I would get this amount of space to use, or that is the total including the install?
If the latter, how much space would the install use?

Hello Karpathos,
The allocated disk space to any VPS plan includes the disk space of OS and control panel [if any].RsyNc.

thanks for the response. How much space would the OS and control panel (cPanel / WHM) need. would it be a substantial amount of the total?

Hello Karpathos,
OS and control panel (cPanel / WHM) use approx "2.9 GB" of disk space and this space is included in the total allocated disk space.
"Total allocated disk space" = "OS + Control panel + free remaining space".RsyNc.

I coincidentally came to the forum to post a question about this, so I may as well add to this thread.
I have two 15gb VPS accounts. On both, the WHM -> System Health -> Disk Usage page says that the total size of the /dev/vzfs partition is 15gb, and the software installed is using 4.1gb (27%), leaving only 11gb free for my website use.
1) Is that 4.1gb usage normal? Is the Disk Usage page accurate?
2) Can I use that entire 11gb without performance loss and/or errors, or do I need to keep 2 or 3gb free? On one of the accounts, I'm trying to give 600+ school pupils and teachers their own space on the server (upload files through Drupal), plus three Drupal websites, a moodle and of course pop email for all the teachers. If everyone uses most their allocated space, 10gb won't go very far!
Thanks.

Hello
Hello,
I have checked and your VPS is using 30% (4.5GB) of disk space. Following directories are having high usage :
/usr : 2.9GB (contains all cPanel files, apache logs)
/home : 983MB (contains webdata, apache compilation files)
/var : 566MB (contains Databases, logs and cache files)
Plain VPS usually takes 1 GB of disk space and cPanel installation takes around
2 - 2.5 GB of disk space. Other modules like Yum takes 300 MB of space, so this usage is normal with cPanel VPS.
You can definitely use remaining 11 GB of free disk space. It is recommended to keep 15-20% disk space free on your VPS. You should receive cPanel warning notificatioins if you use much disk space than recommended.

Thanks for your reply.
I should also mention that I received an email ticket regarding this forum post, whereby eukhost basically went out of their way to offer a disk space solution. Incredible service. Incredible people. Incredible company!
Cheers.
