    Default FTP Bandwith

I have created an account with 5000 MB monthly bandwidth and have started uploading daily FTP backups of customers data. The usage is show on the Webalizer FTP but the Monthly Bandwidth Transfer amount never increases.

Is FTP bandwidth usage taken into account?
Is their anyway I can reflect this in the monthly bandwidth figures?

Hi Stuart.. FTP transactions are definitely accounted in the total monthly bandwidth amount. But the second question appears to be a bit confusing to me.. we'd need some more information & a quick look into the actual problem. In fact you'd have to use the Webalizer FTP to check the actual monthly bandwidth usages. Could you please approach our Live Chat support & provide us the required info so this can be sorted out in realtime.. & any doubts cleared?

Thanks Rock, I have spoken to support, who where very helpful.

The Webalizer FTP shows the FTP usage on cPanel, so I'll use that to check the bandwidth.

Yes, The FTP bandwidth usage taken into account by cpanel.

You can use "Webalizer FTP" option in Cpanel to see the detailed logs of FTP bandwidth usage of particular domain.

I think it's actually a common misconception by new users that the FTP usage does not count towards their bandwidth as they only take into account the resources that their website uses yet forget that the FTP server also uses up bandwidth.

It's important to keep this in mind if you're using your FTP services to make a temporary backup of a large file, I've done this before and forgot about it until I looked at how much bandwidth I used as I was amazed that I had used up 2GB more than usual but then remembered about the large file I had temporarily stored.
