    Default viewing access logfiles

I've downloaded an access log file, ending in .gz I can only find instructions in the web for unzipping tar.gz files. How do I unzip this and view my access logs?

I know I can see who's been accessing my website via the Webalizer stats. But someone appears to have hacked into a Squirrelmail email account and I'm hoping to be able to find out more than the fact they seem to be based in Mumbai.

The program WinRAR can unzip/extract .gz files. If you see any particular IP accessing your webmail then please send an email to support[@]eukhost.com and we will investigate it.

Thanks Patrick, will do. Would have preferred a free unzipper, though, as I hope not to have to use the facility too often.

I already recommended a freeware software to extract your .gz files.

.... ok, have now done that, but the access log shows only recent access to the website pages, nothing suspicious. The breach, if it was one (and if it was a EUK person testing my mail then surely you would have notified me before?), happened around 02.17 GMT. I must tell you that I have now spoken to a EUK person on the phone who I hope is expediting this query. He has the headers of the suspicious message. I just thought that the logs might have told me more, but they don't.

WinRar is not free. It is shareware - there is a free trial period, after that you have to pay. Perhaps it's changed recently?
