Useful to humans indeed - but unfortunately devaluing. If your not looking to sell (as I am sure experts exchange arn't) then it doesn't really make a lot of difference.

Also I am sure they still own the hyphenless name as well as the now hyphened name.

That is a very good point. If you see an advert outside for "www.mysite.com" what do you remember in your brain - mysite.com. If you see "www.my-site.com" what do you remember in your brain - mysite.com again. You don't often think "my" "hyphen" "site.com".

A hyphenated domain is never a priority but people may go for this if they don't wish to register a very long domain name and want to get their domain name in specific tld only. Ironically the hyphenated domain version is easier to read as usually it has compound words while without hyphen domain name is easy to type, both have some advantage. A hyphenated domain name can do much better which have good quality content compare to rubbish content on a short & without hyphen domain name.

I prefer domains without hyphens. I might consider getting a domain name with a hyphen if the desired domain is already registered and there aren't any alternatives left.

Using hyphens to seperate words like remember the BrainSwank topic? That could be good with a hyphen between n and s which would make it easier for the name to be properly understood. Definitely, more than one hyphen (or hypens used unneccessarily - like n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n lol) is a no-no.

With being away for a while, I'm catching up on the forums and when we hit the hypens comments, this was the first website hosting that sprang to mind. Lol. Evidently great minds think alike!

I would give it a chance at least list my domain name up for auction there. They know what they are doing. 7/24 email support is great.

I have tried all major domain auction websites but they are all looking to earn more. http:/sell.your.name is the cheapest one besides it is the most secure one.

DP is only good for getting some idea about the prospective evaluation.If you want to SELL, eBay is the best place.

Sedo is the best place for selling domains, Ebay is also a good to get a good price. There is one more way for this is to advertise the domain name is the very high traffic forums. You can also give a try at Yahoo auction. have heard something like this for godaddy as well, As it is also a domain reseller.

Thanks for that Katecutie i'll also giv that a try. Was at the Meetdomainers Manchester domain conference, a few weeks ago, and it was pretty good, they also had an auction there at the end of the day so got a feel of how the whole thing executes. Have you sold a few domain names yourself?
